Support
Open Hearts CARES is combined care-giving ministries of Open Hearts United Methodist Church. Our goal is to provide compassionate assistance and encouragement to church and community members as they face life’s challenges, whether they are physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual.
If you would like to be a part of this vital ministry or are in need of CARES, please contact Sandy MacMillian, CARES leader at cares@openheartsumcsc.org.
Prayer
Sanctuary
Every Thursday the prayer team gathers for prayers for those requesting/needing special prayers, for our church, for our community, for our nation, and for our world. You are invited to join them as they pray.
Prayer requests are received from special cards that are placed in the offering plate or in the prayer box outside the church office. Prayer requests are also received via the CARES email listed at the top of the page.
Home-bound
The home-bound members are visited regularly. After communion Sundays, our CARES team brings communion to them.
Special Needs
For those members going through especially tough times. Prayer quilts or prayer shawls are provided. Prayer quilts are placed in the Sanctuary so that each member may have an opportunity to tie a knot and say a prayer for the particular person.
Bereavement
The families of those in our congregation who have lost loved ones need special love. Our CARES team members provide help at funerials and prepare meals for the grieving families to show our love.
