Sunday School Classes
Sunday School meets every Sunday morning from 9:45 – 10:45 AM. Classes also have other activities outside of the Sunday School hour to promote community and/or aid the church and community around us.
Friendship Class
Room A09-Merritt Room
Although the Friendship Class is primarily a group of retirees and empty-nesters, our door is open to young and old. We discuss biblically and theologically inspired questions while respecting and honoring the different ways God speaks to each of us. Curriculum is selected by volunteer presenters in an undefined rotation as subjects dictate. We welcome open minds with open hearts.
Open Hearts Class
Room C12
Open Hearts Sunday School Class is a vibrant inter-generational class of couples, singles, and those whose spouses attend other churches or do not attend church.
We use the United Methodist Adult Bible Studies curriculum, taught by a rotation of excellent teachers with a variety of teaching methods, but we may occasionally do a book study or have a guest speaker. We focus on studying Scripture and applying it to life situations. Our class members value engaged discussion, sensitive listening, and a sense of humor.
The Open Hearts Class seeks to strengthen members’ faith; accept, encourage, and support each other; and direct our spiritual gifts and abundance of resources to do God’s work in the world. In addition, members enjoy fellowship activities, including dinners out, sports or cultural events, picnics, brunches, and holiday gatherings.
Seekers Class
Room C09
“Seekers” class yearns to be continuous learners about the Christian life and to apply our knowledge in serving both our church and our community- local, national, and international. Our members are primarily late career professionals, both working and retired. We are inclusive, open to lively discussion! We welcome participants who respect differing opinions and open their hearts to a variety of perspectives.
The Seekers class is organized around groups for curriculum selection, fellowship, and missions outreach. We use both books, DVD studies, and guest speakers for Advent, Lent and the liturgical year. Members and visitors are invited to share in our studies. Studies have included N. T. Wright (New Testament), Trevor Hudson, Adam Hamilton, James Moore, Kyle Idleman, Andy Stanley, and C.S. Lewis. Our class style is participatory, open, respectful discussion. We have diverse backgrounds and opinions, and don’t all think alike, but we love each other and we love to laugh. Come join us for a lesson, a season, or forever!
New Adult Class
Room D04
The new Adult Sunday School inter-generational class that is focused on acts of service. They are currently enjoying building community together through conversations and helpful projects around the church on Sunday mornings. They are in the process of choosing a name for their class.
